Ryan Gabriel

Ryan Gabriel

Ryan Gabriel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Brigham Young University. He is the current PAA Secretary-Treasurer and served on the PAA DEI Committee. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington in 2016. His research specializes in urban sociology, migration, race and racism, and the history and legacy of racial violence. His recent scholarship centers on the families of southern lynch victims during Jim Crow, African Americans’ socioeconomic outcomes and patterns of migration throughout the Great Migration, and the neighborhood attainment of multiracial individuals.
